Shipping and Receiving Coordinator (6 months contract)

We are currently looking for a self-directed team player for the temporary Shipping and Receiving Coordinator role (6 months contract). This position is responsible for providing clerical support to the shipping and receiving function of the company. Responsible for all aspects of logging orders, routing, shipping, and tracking outbound orders. Contacts transporter for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. This role will work with other Warehouse Staff to create pick lists, verify accuracy of quantities picked, create loads in the data base, make labels, packing slips and any other shipping and receiving documents.


  • Create picklists; Work with other warehouse team members to ensure that quantities picked are accurate and match picking documents
  • Create and process required paperwork for shipping and receiving (ie. Packing slip, Commercial Invoice, Customs, NAFTA, Bill of Lading, B13, etc.)
  • Coordinate with Material Coordinator to determine inventory levels and schedule
  • Review master ship list to determine the schedule and mode of transportation
  • Coordinate with freight to schedule pickups for products in accordance to customer’s routing guides and requirements
  • Ensure correct parts are shipped on time
  • Performs Audit and verifies the inventory quantity and assists in the inventory level maintenance; Ensures inventory database is updated accordingly
  • Communicate all variances or discrepancies to appropriate departments immediately
  • Receive and move materials within the warehouse as needed
  • Operates warehouse equipment (ie. forklift, reach truck) in a safe manner, as required
  • Will assist in cycle counts and perform other duties as required by the Warehouse Manager.


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory, production control, shop orders, material picking, receiving and shipping coordination capacity
  • Ability to drive a forklift an asset, but not required
  • 1-3 years experience using Word/Excel/Outlook
  • Experience in using ERP system to do data entry, search inventory, print order details and labels, run reports, etc.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Positive attitude and ability to problem solve
